TheNetworkCEO: Hi, Killa K of T.U.P. welcome to the hiphop network underground digital magazine, Why don’t you introduce yourself for those who don’t know you already?

Killa K of T.U.P.-Well, all of my fans and supporters would probably call me K, or Killa K-oss. But my official stage name is Killa K of T.U.P.. My first major online exposure was probably when (extremely popular at the time) soundclick producer “Ozone Beats of Toxiq Ent.” linked up with me and a friend to make “Hood On Smash” (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=86057&content=songinfo&songID=2484202) prod. by Ozone. Shout out to the homie Ozone for showing love on that tip.

But to all of my music lovers and fellow artist you may know me by my producer alias which is “Tha Fiyamen (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=143388).” And as a young producer I’ve already topped the soundclick.com (http://soundclick.com/) instrumental charts with my most popular instrumental “Still Hustlin (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143388&content=songinfo&songID=2730512)’.” PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take time to listen to that “Still Hustlin’” track and make sure you look at the UPLOAD DATE!! Because if you remember, Chamillionaire’s “Evening News” track you’ll see that “Kane Beatz” stole my track!…haha, there’s some drama for you. Its whatever tho, the facts show that I uploaded that beat on August 8, 2005! So if you looking for the hottest beats online, look no further.

Lastly, I am the CEO/CCO of the independant label, “Times Up Productions” or “T.U.P.” with a wide range of artist and producers. Check em out:

TheNetworkCEO:Well the network is all about making moves, so tell me what sets you as an artist and the group you work with apart from every other rapper/producer out there grinding?

Killa K of T.U.P.To start, pure talent. I honestly believe that nowadays, its SOOO easy to call yourself a producer with programs like FL Studio, ect. but I feel like even though I’m using these programs, I’m not trying to sound like anyone else, I am pushing the envelope. Not only that but I’m out here networking with some of the bigger names on the independant scene. I’ve been doing this for a long time now. I done cashed checks from Universal! Ya dig? All these niggas out here saying they produce and they rap aint me!! I’m tryna tell these niggas to check my resume.

^^Killa K, Yung Rip, & Young Skeptik Concert!

TheNetworkCEO:What group is it that you’re currently repping, and what’s a little history behind how you came to be?

Killa K of T.U.P.Some people would say that Killa K, born as Channing Ross, was destined for greatness at a young age. Learning how to play just about any instrument he could get his hands on his parents did the only thing that they could do, send him to church! I the church K learned song formats as well as how instruments mesh together with the right amount of talent using them. Playing the piano mostly, K then took his musical genius to another level when he was introduced to Fruity Loops Studio by a cousin. It wasn’t too long before K surpassed his cousin who showed him fruity loops, but he’d surpassed the majority of the producers that are currently producing hit records. Staying determined, K molded and shaped his craft into his own unique sound that will be heard throughout the next decade in the Hip-Hop/Rap/R&B/Soul genre. It didn’t take much time before K decided to start his own production company at the age of 15 along with 2 more young entrepreneurs by the names of Steve & Jabari, thus, Times Up Productions was formed. Unfortunately, when your only 15, the majority of your time is occupied by school, which doesn’t leave too much time for marketing of the label. Now that K has graduated high school, he has been determined to get his sound heard. With a countless number of industry standard instrumentals, as well as a countless number of mixtape appearances shouting out his label. “T.U.P.!” In the midst of all the years, K has managed, developed, and recruit strong vocal artist for the label including: Yung Rip, Suspect (Speezy), Sneek (HipHopGameTV.com), Dreno, Da Addition, Young Skeptik, Rambo, Petro & Da Ripper.

TheNetworkCEO:Is there anything going on locally that we should be keeping our eye out from you and your camp? Where is it that you consider to be your local grounds?

Killa K of T.U.P.Man, the United States is my hometown and I’m tryna take a vacation if you feel me. Being in this internet game, it’s not rare to find out that I have a following over in Japan, or I’m selling mixtapes in the U.K. or France or The Netherlands. You know?? I’m out here and my fans know it.

TheNetworkCEO:What do you think of the Hiphop Network, and what they are trying to do in building an indie database making real hiphop accessible to everyone?

Killa K of T.U.P.I feel like HipHop Network is helping anybody out there who wants to be heard. But when you look at the picture as a whole, this network is a small pebble pond. The internet in general has killed some parts of hip hop, but I honestly believe it has helped, more than hurt the game. The internet is the manager you never had, or the promo team you always wanted. All you need is the drive and a good marketing plan, and 7 times out of 10 everything will fall into place. (If you pushing a good product)

TheNetworkCEO:Aiight, on a more personal level now Killa K of T.U.P. what is your personal take on the current state of hiphop today?

Killa K of T.U.P.I love it! I love that niggas are out here getting money! I mean, if you put yourself in a “box” and say “I’m only this type of artist” then I can see how you would be upset. But I am an artist to the bone, and I adapt. If its ringtones that they want, guess what…I’ll right a hook that can go that route. I feel like this….Any real artist will flourish if the talent is there. All you need is the drive. ITS WAY TO MANY LAZY CATS OUT HERE IN THE GAME! MAKING IT EASIER FOR CATS LIKE ME!

TheNetworkCEO:If you don’t agree that hiphop is dead, or at least digital currently, then please tell us why you think that it is still alive, and who do you believe is currently out there that supports your case?

Killa K of T.U.P.Hip Hop IS Digital! But is that a bad thing? I don’t think it is. Digital is apparently so good that we gotta switch TV shits in Febuary right??….hahaha……But nah, I dont think the game is dead. I just think the “Sam Goody, Record Store, Best Buy, Wal-Mart ect.” days are coming to an end. But hey, if you happen to be snowed in when I drop this Project Kane & Abel, you can go to you local ITunes Store, Amazon, Rhapsody, Imeem…lol….ya dig. Like I said, I’m out here adapting.

TheNetworkCEO:What made you decide that you were going to make music for a living?

Killa K of T.U.P.Whoa!….Hey, hey, hey, I’m only 21. I make MONEY for a living. I make music for a hobby and for the fans. This is the first step to a long list of the T.U.P. brand. I plan on sitting behind a desk somewhere with a big window overlooking the city (St. Louis hopefully) and still going hard in the entertainment industry. Maybe you could teach me how to get some of that HipHop Networking money. I’m tryna learn as much as possible while I’m still young.

TheNetworkCEO:What else is in store for Killa K of T.U.P. and your camp in the near future or beginning of 2009?? What is it that the network should be looking forward to?

Killa K of T.U.P.Well right now I’m talking with some neutral friends of Trey Songz, as well as T-Pain. It hasn’t really materialized yet so I can’t really speak on it too much, but just be on the look out 2nd quarter ‘09. Also, look forward to my solo mixtape “Flight School Vol. 2″. We got the joint mixtape from me and Yung Rip called “Project Kane & Abel”, that joint is soooo crazy! Also working on a Young Skeptik Mixtape/Album, but can’t really speak on that. Look out for some industry placements from “Speezy Tha King”..He’s the hottest producer in the game right now! Just look out for us!

TheNetworkCEO:Well it looks like we’ve come to the end of our interview, I’d like to thank you personally Killa K of T.U.P. for taking the time to let us all get to know you better, is there anything else you’d like to say before this is over?

Killa K of T.U.P.Thank you, to EVERYBODY who read this! Thank you to HipHop Network. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Make sure you go check out my latest mixtapes!! THEY ARE ALL FREE!!! Flight School Vol. 1 & Killa K & Young Skeptik – They Didn’t Believe Us!

TheNetworkCEO:Let everyone know where to find you on the web and the network??
